Book Review: Delevan House

ust finished the book, Delevan House written by Ruthann Jagge and Natasha Sinclair. This contemporary gothic horror story brings the past together with the present. The main story revolves around a centuries old witch named Lady Lenore Delevan and her house, Delevan House, where she had been banished to live her life by the residents of the Scottish village of Badb.

This book contains quite a few sub-plots within the main story line. All of which are connected to Lady Lenore and Delevan House. So, the book almost plays out like an anthology story.

The story combines the elements of Scottish Folklore, Witchcraft, Supernatural horror, Horrific imagery and Eroticism in a clever and imaginary way.

Delevan House is well written and crafted. The writers do a terrific job providing a visual experience for the reader that will elevate many sensations we all have as humans. I highly recommend this book as the paperback version id 222 pages so not a long read but an extremely engaging read. For those reasons, I hope someday this story is made into a movie or maybe a television series. This is the first book of a trilogy with the second book due out later this year, I believe.

What is amazing is that the writers, Ruthann Jagger, who lives in the United States(Texas to be specific) and Natasha Sinclair , who lives in Scotland have never met in person as of the writing of this review. So, the way they were able to collaborate on this writing endeavor is truly unique and amazing. Check out their interview on The Dark Mind Podcast from June 6. 2023 to learn more about these two amazing writers.

For those interested you can purchase Delevan House on Amazon and Barnes and Nobles among others. You can also check out the authors’ website Brazen Folk Horror at https://brazenfolkhorror.com/
