Book Review: Raptured Book One of Afterworld Series

Raptured : Book One of The Afterworld Series, written by own Kerri Lague, on the surface , appears to be a story about the end times , the apocolypse and the rapture as told in the book of Revelations. But there is more to this story. Kerri does an excellent job of using this biblical story as a way of commenting the problems in society in general. The author explores themes of a lack of trust in our institutions such as the government and the church, which the lack of trust has been earned. But what is more disheartening is how in the face of tragedy instead of uniting society tears itself apart and people dump one god and government only to worship and rely on another. Where maybe we as a community should just relay on each other. At least that is what I take away from it. The story and the characterless kept me engage from start to finish. Often times throughout the story I would ask myself ,"What I would do in this situation". Kerri Lague is a talented and clever writer whose story both entertains and makes you think.
